Makalu Base Camp Trekking
Makalu (8463m) is one of the beautiful mountains and it is 5th highest mountain in the world, lies near by the top of the world Everest that is challenging and an outstanding camping trekking in eastern Nepal. The mout likes Chamlang Himal and Barun Valley are the major jewels of this area. The main focal point of this trek is Makalu Barun National park and conservation area, which lies in the Solukhumbhu and Sankhuwasabha district, established in 1992 and formally inaugurated in 1992. This trek is offers a remarkable and diverse habitat for a rich variety of flora and fauna. Plants of all major ecological zones: tropical, sub-tropical, temperate, alpine and sub-alpine are found here.
Due to its isolation and lack of Teahouse this areas still receives few trekkers. Sherpa, Rai and Limbus are the main habitants of the region
Trek starts with a flight from Tumlingtar. The trail follows Arun-river and leaves it near Sedua. After crossing the river you climb the hill to Tashigaon. Make further steep ascend to Shipton pass (4126m). Cross the pass and enter into the other world. The pass is usually covered by snow. On the other side you descend to Barun Khola (river) through rhododendron forest, streams and grassy fields and traverse to the base camp of Makalu. Retrace the trail back to Tumlingtar. Fly to Kathmandu
