The Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is a profound form of thrilling adventure that will refill your soul with nature’s charm and empower you through numerous experiences of awe-inspiring scenarios and fragrant wilderness at the heart of the Annapurna Himalayas region. The trek route introduces you to the spectacular vistas of the glorious Himalayas, such as Tukuche Peak (6,920 m), Dhaulagiri V (7,618 m), and other peaks. It will be quite demanding as you traverse the fascinating Himalayan passes, such as the French Pass and Dhampus Pass. Still, it can be an ideal choice for trekking enthusiasts seeking a bit of thrill, offering to explore three base camps: the Italian Base Camp, Glacier Base Camp, and Dhaulagiri Base Camp in a single journey.

Similarly, it’s a golden chance to circumnavigate Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), the seventh-highest mountain in the world, through scenic trekking paths alongside the attractive waterfalls, winding rivers, lush forests, and enchanting high Himalayan villages, primarily inhabited by Magar and Gurung. Besides these, you may encounter unique and rare wildlife, such as red pandas, musk deer, Himalayan tahr, Himalayan black bears, langur monkeys, and distinctive species of birds, while walking through forested areas filled with pine, rhododendron, birch, juniper, and wildflower meadows.

One of the major highlights of the trek is enjoying the sunrise and sunset over the gigantic mountains. To experience such a moment and relish the charm of nature on the trip, led by the Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek itinerary and guide, you should begin it with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu alongside the serene traditional settlements. After Pokhara, you head to Darbang with an exciting road ride. From here, the trek officially proceeds to Dharapani, which takes 5 to 6 hours, passing through several villages and terraced fields of rice, wheat, mustard, and barley.

Leaving Dharapani, your journey continues toward Doban, where you’ll have an acclimatization day. Along the trail, you’ll pass through several quaint villages such as Jugepani, Boghara, Jyardan, and Lipshe, encased in dense rhododendron forests, bamboo groves, and terraced fields along the Myagdi River. Further ahead, the trail leads to Sallaghari, then to Italian Base Camp, followed by Glacier (Japanese) Base Camp, and ultimately, Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Each campsite offers stunning views of towering mountains as you pass by various landmarks, glaciers, and other awe-inspiring natural features.

As you transition into the next stage of the trek, after the unforgettable camping experience at three distinctive camps, you will discover yourself stopping beneath a blanket of stars in the serene Hidden Valley. The peaceful location is marvelously surrounded by the breathtaking Boudha Himal and Sisne Himal to the west; on the other hand, Ganesh Himal and Sringi Himal are to the north. Reaching this place is fairly strenuous, as you traverse the French Pass (5,360 m) through glacial moraine and rugged terrain.

From the hidden valley, you descend gradually towards Marpha, through Yak Kharka, traversing the Dhampus Pass (5240 m) with a panorama of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Marpha is renowned for its apple brandy, which you might be fortunate to taste during the trek. After leisurely time here, you head to Pokhara with a roaring drive and check into your hotel to unwind. Stroll around the lively city in the evening and savor delicious local cuisines at the delightful hotels and restaurants. The trek officially concludes as you reach Kathmandu, and then you will be transferred to the hotel for the night’s stay.
