Mera Peak is located at the east of Katmandu at the altitude of (6654m) Mera Peak is one of the most popular of Nepal's 18 "Trekking peak" From the trekker, the walk from Lukla through the Sherpa country of the remote Inkhu valley is an unforgettable experience, offering superb scenery and abundant wildlife including rumored sights of the legendary yeti.
This peak climbing is one of the demanding, challenging enough but non-technical climb among the trekking peaks in Nepal. Our adrenaline adventurous journey begins from the popular gateway to Everest at Lukla with a 40 minutes sweeping panoramic flight from Katmandu. From here onwards into wilderness zone of the Khumbu region, passing through numerous passes of Zatwar-la and unspoiled forest of rhododendron and pines before heading to the base of Mera peak and after the vigorous climb to the summit with a grand view of the surrounding majestic peaks that circles you including the world's highest peaks,
Mt.Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Lhotse and Makalu. Retrace the trail back to Lukla and fly out to Katmandu.
In addition, the Mera Peak trek is superb. The Hinku and Hongu valleys are spectacular Himalayan wilderness. The standard route from the north involves little more than high altitude glacier walking. The ease of reaching this elevation may be its biggest danger but good weather and snow conditions are, of course, necessary for safety and success. The west and south faces of the peak offer difficult technical routes.
The first ascent was on May 20, 1953 by Col. Jimmy Roberts and Seen Tenzing. The region was first explored extensively by British expeditions in the early 50's before and after the ascent of Everest. Members of those teams included Edmund Hillary, Eric Ship ton and George Lowe.
