About The Namobuddha Kathmandu Valley Trekking
Namo Buddha, with altitude of (2565m) lies in between Banepa and Panauti, is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage site as well as a favored stopover for trekkers. It is known as“Takmo Lu Jin” Tigress Body Generosity in Tibetan. Rows of Buddhist stupas adorned with fluttering prayer flags. Yet what draws their attention most is an image of the Lord Buddha in his compassionate manifestation. A small shrine a few minutes walk up to the hill the carved stone image of the Lord Buddha together with the tigress and her cubs portrays a popular legend, which relates that the Lord Buddha in his previous incarnation had offered his own flesh to save a starving tigress and her cubs. On the other side of the hill stands the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse monastery constructed in 1976. Large number of pilgrims visits Namo Buddha, especially during the months of February and March. Our trek starts driving from kathamandu to Dulikhel and to Namo Buddha. Namo Buddha and Lakuri Banjayanj is also one of the best viewpoints for viewing some of the highest peaks in the World like Mt. Everest, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Ranges, Gaurishankar etc. This trek will also take us through different cultures and thick forests of Rhododendron, Mongolia and Sal tree. It is really nature lover’s paradise.
Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche has built a retreat center, a college for higher Buddhist studies (Shedra), a secular school for young monks (Namo Budha School that is branch school of Shree Mangal Dvip of boudha), a translation and publication house, a house for the office and staff and several guesthouses. As well, the main temple is nearing completion. The exterior building is complete and now the process of finishing is underway. It is designed by Thrangu Rinpoche as a representation of the three yanas or paths it is beautiful, elegant and filled with symbolic meaning as benefits this holy Buddhist pilgrimage place. And the Mahakala Temple is being finished and almost completed. Two new dormitories have completed to house the shedra students.
