On this Upper Dolpo trekking adventure, we cross three relatively high passes. Good paths are followed throughout and there is no trekking on glaciers. At the edge of the Tibetan Plateau in the Himalayan, rain shadow lays Dolpo the legendary hidden land closed for years to trekkers. The lack of other tourists the warm welcome given by the hardy Dolpo-Pa and the fascinating insight into the Tibetan way of life make for extremely varied and special trekking in Nepal. This trek offers you to see the beautiful views of Himalayas like Norbu Kang(6005m),Kanta Gaton(5916m),Bijala Himchuli(6386m),Hanging Glacier(6500m),Kanjiroba North(6883m)Tso Karpo(6157m) and Lha shamma(5698m)etc. A unique trek in Nepal it is ideally suited to those who love a challenge and who have "been everywhere". You have not until you have been to Dolpo.
The trek from Jomsom to Dolpa following the higher route through several high- passes into the remote villages of Charkabhot which is the last big village from Do in the west and Sangdok in the east As Christoph Von Furer-Haimendorf in his book ‘Himalayan Traders’ said the village of Charkhabhot is unique village with fort like structure. Bhot means Tibet in Nepali and Bhotia means dwellers of High Mountain. Unlike Mustang and Shey gompa that has attracted outside world the land west of Jomsom and behind the Crystal Mountain has remained as aloof as ever waiting to be discovered in its raw form. Unlike other trek, you travel through the uncharted trail. Even local people do not use the trail beyond Sangda –la (5487m.). So far, only few people have taken this journey. The trek provides an unprecedented adventure. You will discover the original state of the inhabitants. Of course, you will be thrilled to encounter nomads and yak caravans. After Charka bhot you will enter into the well-traveled route of Lower Dolpo. You follow the trail to Do Tarap and cross Numa la and bagala to reach the pristine alpine Phoksumdo Lake. The Lake is spectacular, it is 4.8km long, 1.8km wide and said to be 650m deep. It is knower it is for aquamarine color a greenish blue similar to special Tibetan turquoise there is no aquatic life in the lake, which helps to make the waters brilliantly clear. If you toss a rock in, you can watch it for a long time as it sinks to the bottom. According to legend, Phoksumdo Lake was formed by a spiteful female demon. Turn south to Ringmo. The main trail leads to Dunai and to Juphal. You will fly back from Juphal to Nepaljung and same dayfly to Katmandu.
